Do you believe in spirit guides?

I'm going to say no mainly because people who swear they exist say that anyone can find out the name of their spirit guide and talk to them. That's obviously not the case for most people. Plus, if these spirit guides are supposed to guide us in the right direction then why are there so many bad people??? I will say that I do believe that for me personally there is a force that makes things happen. More than one force, actually. I believe I have a spiritual self perhaps out of my body. I also believe that other people's spirits are responsible for things that happen to me. This means that the person themselves did not make something happen, but their spirit had a role in it. I digress. What do you think?

I think it is yet another silly and unsubstantiated idea.

Absolutely, we are guided to realize the learning experience we chose when we incarnated.

Well, I believe in Angels and in the Holy Spirit, so perhaps combining them somehow equals a 'spirit guide'.

As to why there are so many bad people, they don't avail themselves of the spiritual guidance which is available.

I originally posted this in the Paranormal forum, but since I see you've asked the same question, I'll re-post it here.

My longtime girlfriend may have a spirit guide. It's a fox.

This happened around 2007-2008. She was at home in our apartment, and she called me at work, all freaked out. A few days prior, she had done a ritual (she has a history with the occult) where she asked for her spirit guide to show itself to her, if she had one. She was feeling like she needed guidance, and was in the mood to try to interact with the spirit world about it.

So anyway, she got this feeling all of the sudden that there was something in our bedroom, and it was a creepy feeling. She looked around and made sure she could see our two cats and our pug, and they were all sitting around acting normal. So she walked to our bedroom door, and slowly opened it peering inside.

Next to our bed, in front of our nightstand, was a ghostly fox with glowing red eyes. It was looking right at my girlfriend. She freaked, closed the door, walked away.. and gathered her courage to go back in. When she opened the door again, the fox was gone. But, the door on the front of our nightstand was open.

She then called me right away and told me what had just happened.

Several years later, we moved into a house in a different city, with my sister, her husband, and my sister's young daughter. Once again, my girlfriend was feeling like reaching out to her spirit guide. Or maybe she just asked for a sign, I can't recall exactly how it started.

Anyway, my girlfriend and I are fairly skeptical people, so this time, she asked any entities to show themselves to my sister, because my sister has a history of what are commonly known as psychic experiences. She told me not to tell my sister that she had made this request, so that we don't influence her at all.

I can't remember if it was the next day or a couple days later, but my sister ends up telling us about a very strange experience she had. She had an extremely vivid dream, and there was a fox in this dream. It told her that its name was Donna. I can't remember anything else about the dream.

After my sister woke up that morning, while my girlfriend and I were still asleep (it was on a weekend), she went out into the backyard with her young daughter, who was about 4 years old. As they're watering the plants, her daughter starts telling something apparently invisible to "get away!", and she's fairly agitated about it. My sister asks her what's going on, what are you talking about? Her daughter responds that there's a fox there, and she said it was "pulling pieces off of her".

My sister was a little spooked and tried to get more information out of her, but all she could get was that the fox was either tugging on my sister's leg, or "pulling pieces" off of her leg, whatever that means. Her daughter wasn't really able to clarify.

Because of the strangeness of the dream and then this follow-up experience, my sister tells me and my girlfriend about it once we get up. We then tell her about my girlfriend asking for her spirit guide to contact her through my sister, and my sister is then all giddy about having had a paranormal experience :)

I can't say what my girlfriend learned from these experiences, because it is too personal for her, and would embarrass her quite frankly, but let me just say that these experiences were not in vain.

The funny thing is, my girlfriend and I don't really believe in ghosts or spirits, despite this and other experiences. We've had experiences that would cause other people to be true believers (more than just these two), but we've only grown more skeptical as time has gone on.

Without hard proof of a spirit world, experiences like these must be left as a question mark. We can't say we know what happened... because we don't. We can't say this is proof of a spirit world, because it isn't proof. It's just... unexplained.
