Russian America- an untouched theme

I came across the book "Glorious Misadventures: Nikolai Rezanov and the Dream of a Russian America" by Owen Matthews recently.

His account takes a while to set the scene but it picks up rapidly.

I'm still reading it but it occurred to me that I've never come across a movie involving these people and this period.

A director looking to break new ground in historical drama could think about the very large political, geographical, martial and human scope depicted in this and similar books.
