So you're Jack Wilson

The start of the best gunfight in Western Movie History. 66 years ago. Talk about a long time!

And the payoff is "You're a low-down Yankee liar". Which has a big impact, if you were patient enough to watch the whole movie.

Why do you have to be "patient" to watch the whole movie?

p.s. If you were a rancher in Wyoming and suddenly now that it's cleared of hostile injuns, would you be pissed if some farmer moved in on your range because the government said he could fence off water holes etc ?

My favorite Western.

You could cut the atmosphere with a knife in that saloon. But it would only be sensed if you watched the whole movie and lead up to that scene. Yes the best one to one show down ever.

Shane sure knows his shootout strategy. He pumps two bullets into the faster Wilson before turning on the slower Ryker.

But how did he ever get the other Ryker brother who was on the balcony? When Joey shouts out, Shane turns and seems to fire into the floor (a lucky ricochet, maybe?)

Take 'em to Missouri

Also the Ryker sitting at the table fires his gun in at the ceiling before he gets shot by Shane. Maybe he panicked.

Shane is now closer in terms of years to the time in which it was set (1889) than to the present day (2017). Talk about a long time.

I kind of wish the exchange had gone on a bit longer, but it's hard to argue that the terseness is what makes it so perfect.

I just relish a good, scintillating dialogue between two opposing forces.

Also probably my favorite Western of all. Can't think of one that I like better.

It being filmed in actual Wyoming makes it all the better.

The scenes between Shane and Chris Calloway are just as good.
