Your favourite Clara Bow films?

Clara is one of the greatest screen actresses of all time in my opinion. Her performances are so natural and she has one of the most expressive faces I've ever seen. There is an actual glow about her that is hard to describe, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe had this too.

Clara was one of the Silent eras most popular stars. I think it's such a shame that she didn't have a bigger career in the talkies though because her performances in the few she made(especially Call Her Savage)prove that she would have been just as much star in talkies as she was in Silent films.

Which of Clara's films are your favourites? I love her the most in the following.

I've only seen her in "Wings" (1927) where she was caught between Charles "Buddy" Rogers and Richard Arlen. She was kind of lost with all of the spectacular flying sequences going on.

She's great in Wings. I agree though that the characters get somewhat overshadowed by the aerial sequences.

I think Mantrap was her best silent. At least of those I have seen.
"It" is a close second.

Among the talkies, I liked Call Her Savage and Hoop-La best.

And two hard boiled eggs.

It and Wings were both good, but the little known 'Hula' is much better than you'd guess from that title. Victor Fleming directed it. Aah, now I have your attention!  Her character's name is Hula, but yes we also get to see her do the dance, - as memorable in its way as Rita's Put the Blame on Mame. One spectator (Clive Brook) is so entranced he immediately declares that his wife doesn't understand him and files for divorce. (I'm not kidding.) Oh, and in the opening scene, CB is seen swimming in the buff.

The movie Paramount on Parade is helped by an accessibly well-known cast: Gary Cooper, Fay Wray and Jean Arthur.
