What are you watching tonight?

TGIF. Been a hell of a week and now I'm ready to plop my ass down on the couch and relax. Trying to decide if I should watch Allied or Hacksaw Ridge on demand. Will update this thread when I decide.

What's everyone else watching tonight?

edit - ended up going with Allied. Don't want to spoil it for anyone, but let's just say you shouldn't get romantically involved with co-workers!

I'm watching Steven Seagal's new movie Contract to Kill. It's as bad as it sounds (which is why I'm on this site while its still playing). I used to love his old work, but man I really don't know what happened to the guy.

reply

I just ordered Dominos. Getting ready to binge watch How I met your mother.

Right now I'm watching a movie I just randoming found on Amazon Prime. It's called Son Rise and a TV movie from 1979. It's about parents who have a son who has autism. Of course back then no one really knew what it was back then. They are told he is most likely blind and deaf since he doesn't respond to sight or sound. They are told his IQ is less than 30. Pretty much told he needs to be put in an institution. They take things into their own hands to reach him. I'm less than half way into it and always loving it. I've already looked up the Son Rise foundation, read about how the son is today (he has a book on Amazon) and read others experience at the foundation. I don't have a child who has autism but have a few friends who do and my husband has an adult cousin with it. As they say parents of kids with autism are amazing. I don't think I could do it but I guess you do what you gotta do. I will recommend this movie to everyone! Don't let it being from the 70s stop you from watching it. I use to avoid old movies and that was a mistake. A lot of my favorites are now older movies.

reply

I'm an autism parent; thanks for the recommendation! I love 70s movies best of all and there aren't enough from any decade on the subject of autism.

reply

An autism spectrum g'parent here, and also thanks for the recommend!!!

reply

You are both welcome. If you don't have Amazon Prime it's also on YouTube. I went there to read more comments about the movie. I'm always curious about how movies touch others so that's how I found it there. The whole movie was great except I didn't like the end where someone made a comment about a perfect child. No one is perfect and most parents know that. But it's great. There are two books written by the father and one even by the son! It's amazing.
After I watched this movie Amazon recommened another movie about autism called Life Animated. That was great too!

I do have Amazon Prime, for now. I'm letting it go to cut back on unneccessary expenses. I have 11 pages of movies and shows hopefully to be found somewhere else. The other place shutting down the msg boards prompted a rethink. Spring is here where I am so it's time for a new beginning.

I'll watch it tonight and comment on the board. It's listed here as Son Rise: A Miracle of Love (1979).

Hope you enjoyed it.

I actually had to withdraw my cable due to a job loss and actually the last three days, I flew out on business because I was hired for a part time. Man, the hotel I had stayed at, had all the channels a customer would want a la carte.

So I guess I just have to make do with a bootleg website and the rest of Rocket Power. lol

reply

Youtube has a lot of movies and tv shows. We don't have cable but I'd be too scared to get in trouble going to bootleg sites.

reply

As long as you do not download anything off those sites, you will not get into trouble. Additionally, it's not like you could not readily find these sites on google. The website I am currently on was an alternative to one that was shutdown. They both have facebook pages. Funny thing is, this one probably has not been shutdown yet because neither has anyone ratted it out nor has any government entity come across yet.

I rarely buy movies and never TV shows, I find anything I could ever want streaming on the internet.

reply

Yeah, as cable companies continue to buy each other out and the monopoly grows ever nearer, the majority of the people will be streaming in the future. Spectrum decimated any hope of me watching cable ever again.

reply

I hear you. The cable company has us all in a vice.

reply

I'm watching Taboo... on the third episode right now

reply

Excellent choice!

reply

I agree. It's one of the best shows!

reply

I'm watching Vampire Diaries.

reply

Just finished my rewatch of Game of Thrones all the way through to the end of Season 6. Season 7 is going to be epic, like we have never seen before.

reply

It was a rough week. I poured myself a glass of red and will be watching The Girl Who Played with Fire.

reply

Sorry about the rough week, you earned the glass of wine, man! Enjoy the film, I've never watched anymore of those....but maybe I should.

Happy watching!

reply

I admittingly thought to myself, "Everyone here is going to know I saw boobies."

It was a decent movie. The idea of being a vigilante hacker who can kick butt is alluring.

reply

All were great, "The idea of being a vigilante hacker who can kick butt is alluring." and a little bitty thang at that!

reply

Indeed. As I was sipping wine and eating Haagan Dazs, watching her made me consider starting a gym membership.

reply

" watching her made me consider starting a gym membership." Me..Never.

Oh, my word..you saw boobiessss. 😱 LOL

Lizbeth is a pretty damn cool and scary character, I wouldn't want to mess with her!

reply

"Lizbeth is a pretty damn cool and scary character, I wouldn't want to mess with her!" Nor I, as Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus convinced me.
