The Amazing Johnathon, would he get away with this now like he did in 1996?

Makes you realize how much society has changed, I doubt anyone could do this now. This was part of a telethon too!

I guess I should say trigger warning.

reply

That was pretty good, no trigger warning required.

reply

I just figured I’d add it, you never know with some folks!

Yeah he is really funny.

reply

I OWN A COUPLE DVDS OF HIS...GOOD STUFF.

reply

COMEDY IS COMEDY...DON'T SEE THE ISSUE YOU ARE SEEING.

reply

“would he get away with this now”

I don’t see why not 🤷‍♂️

reply

💯

reply

I vaguely recall this guy, he was sort of funny, all blustery and sweaty.
Pretty funny routine.

reply

HE WAS A STAPLE ON COMEDY CENTRAL IN THE 90S.

reply

I may be wrong, but I can't see anything in the clip that he would need to change for a 2024 audience.

reply

I don’t either but people are a bit cranky nowadays.

A lot of crybabies are walking around.

reply

💯

reply

I can't be bothered to watch it.

Did he use transphobic language, like saying "male" to refer to someone with what was called male anatomy when I was in college in the 90s?

reply

No.
Nobody turned their dick into a pussy.

reply

That would be quite a trick.

I was thinking that he might have said doing that is impossible, though. That's what might get you cancelled in some places, like mainstream media.

I think you can be a comic and keep your career going even if you say things like that, even today, though. You just won't be getting any roles in big studio movies.

reply

I think hanging on to the cock is pretty important. I’m just old fashioned that way.

reply

Hot take.

reply

VERY HOT!🙂

reply

Please, Shoggie, tallywhacker into a snatch. Much more appropiate. 🤭

reply

I VOTE FOR THAT TOO...JUST TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

reply

Has it been THAT LONG? Anyhow, distant Pollack Cuz, I dislike using a sweet little animal to describe the nether region. Being from the South we use much more discreet words such as tallywhacker, pecker, boner, willy, etc. My aunt used little goober. We use snatch, hoo-ha, tu-tu, flower, beaver, poontang and my husband’s favorite..strange. Bless his soul!

I don't see why he couldn't do it today. I didn't find him funny back in the 90s, and I still don't find it funny, but I didn't think there was anything offensive.

reply

My thought is that the violence towards the woman and her screams would cause howls of toxic masculinity and abuse from today's audiences. It is probably a generational thing as what he is doing is similar to the comic violence in the Roadrunner cartoons and Three Stooges.

I also found it funny that is part of a charity fundraiser!

reply

It is funny that it's on a telethon.

I do agree that it's probably a generational thing. While I don't find it offensive, I think you may be right, that if he were to do the same act today, there probably would be a trigger warning somewhere. I also am not sure that's a bad thing. At least if someone is warned of content a head of time, and they still choose to watch, then I don't think they have a right to complain.

reply

Never heard of him

reply

HE WAS ALL OVER COMEDY CENTROL IN THE 90S...90S COMEDY CENTRAL WAS PRETTY AWESOME.

reply
