Why isn't Laura Linney a bigger star?

Had Linney started in major roles in her early twenties, had she been slightly more attractive, and had she decided “television, film, or stage” then she would have probably found a niche and done well there. Now since she’s over 60 in a business where that means “grandma/lonely old lady/cat lady/angry boss” she’s likely just going to continue in character roles for the remainder of her career.
