Is he really as big a jerk as everyone says?

Now, i've never met him but i've read many things for people who say they have met him and he's a jerk. He seems nice enough, but has anyone ever met him and what was he like?

He's actually very friendly in person. He's a very genuine sort of guy. I met him years ago on the club circuit, and he's very personable.

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it. I tried to be chill, but you're so hot that I melted.

I haven't met him either. When I was younger I used to be pretty much obsessed with him, watching every interview, episode, film; basically anything and everything to do with him and I have never heard anyone say he is a jerk. I haven't followed everything he does for quite a few years now (as I am now an adult and moved on with my life) but he doesn't seem the type to be like that, unless he has changed in recent years. Now if you were talking about Sarah Michelle Gellar I would completely believe you, as she has never cared about anyone but herself, and actually admitted that she hated playing Buffy. she is reported to have been horrible to fans, and even has had a go at them if they called her Buffy instead of Sarah.

I've heard he's a *beep* to work with, but I haven't met him myself. Rumour is he's the kind of lead actor you have to walk on eggshells around if you ever want to get hired back to the show.
I've also heard he's a good director, though.

I have never met him, but from what i heard he is very friendly and nice. And people who worked with him enjoyed it very much. Apparently he is a hoot on set and a total joker.

I'd like to chime in here, too, briefly.

I've also never met him, but back around the time Angel was being cancelled I was involved with a campaign site trying to save the show. One of my fellow "Strategists" on that site organized a contest for fans (can't remember the exact details) and was looking for prizes to offer to the winners. One night, out of the blue, she gets a phone call. She picks it up and who's on the other end? David Boreanaz. He had been informed about what we were trying to do on the site and heard she was organizing this contest and looking for prizes, so he got her phone number, called her up, and offered her a signed copy of his shooting script for the Angel series finale to use as first prize.

In my opinion, it would be rather hard to believe that he's a jerk after he took the initiative to do that, and did it personally rather than through a third party. If there's a perception out there by some people that he's a jerk, I tend to think that it can be attributed to his long-standing and rather public philosophy that his work life and personal life are separate, and so he generally doesn't hang around with his co-workers outside of work, no matter how much he likes and respects them on the job. Digging into my memory banks, the only exceptions I ever recall hearing or reading about were Nicolas Brendan, Glenn Quinn, and Christian Kane. I get the impression that he might also sometimes hang out with Emily Deschanel, but I could be totally wrong about that one.

I've met him once at a convention. He seemed a bit nervous or quiet during the signings and photo sessions, but not everyone is comfortable meeting people, but on stage he was a hoot and a half. I think he's more the joker on film sets and if anyone has ever complained about him (not that I've heard) I would think it'd be a more serious actor who isn't used to goofing around so much between takes. You just have to look at the Angel outtakes to see what he's really like.
