Is this the best giant insect movie ever made?

I'm just curious what people think. I think it is, but I'm open to discussion and enlightenment. By best giant insect movie let's not include comedies (like "Big Ass Spider" which was pretty entertaining).

Sig, you want a sig, here's a SIG-sauer!

There aren't many giant insect movies to choose from. Only "The Beginning of the End" (giant grasshoppers) springs to mind. Also the giant arachnid movies "Tarantula" and "The Black Scorpion." I think that "Them" is better than the other three, so I'd agree with you.

Don't forget 'Deadly Mantis' which I am kind of fond of to be honest.

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

reply

Oh yeah definitely and I'd love to see it be remade by someone like Del Toro. It's hilarious how the posters gives the ants human like eyes.

reply

Yeah I'd say so. Doesn't have a whole lot of competition though.

I thought Mimic was very good. I have not seen Tarantula or Deadly Mantis, though both have been recommended. I remember a terrible film called Empire of the Ants, which is so bad it is kinda fun. Them! is still my favorite.

reply

Please, Let's try not to remember Empire of the Ants.

Having seen both 'Tarantula' and 'Deadly Mantis', I think 'Them!' is the best.

reply

It is!

reply

It's a good film but I haven't seen many giant insect films...I think this and Eight Legged Freaks (2002) are the only two I've actually watched.

reply

“Them” is my favorite atomic-age monster movie and “Eight Legged Freaks” is a good second because it’s pure camp and has Kari Wuhrer and an early Scarlet Johannson.

reply

I think Godzilla beats them all

reply

But "Godzilla" is not a giant insect movie.

reply

A lizard is not an insect? What about Mothra vs Godzilla? Mothra is certainly an insect

reply

Yes.
