Was the Londonderry air on the sound track?
I remember a tune in the movie.
Today I listened to "Danny Boy" whch seemed to have a similar tune, and the tune of "Danny Boy" is the Londonderry Air.
So is that tune in How the West Was Won?
Nobody has answered as for May 9, 2024.
Here is some information:
"Danny Boy" is a song with lyrics written by English lawyer Frederic Weatherly in 1910, and set to the traditional Irish melody of "Londonderry Air" in 1913.

From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,

The motto of the Scottish clan MacArthur is ESID O ESID, meaning "Listen!, O Listen!".
William Manchester's American Ceasear: Douglas MacArthur 1880-1964 (1978) Prologue "First Call", page 17, gives an "ancient Scottish lyric" including the motto:
O the bags they are piping on the banks of Loch Awe.
And a voice on Cruachau calls the Lairds of Lochaw:
"Macarthur, most High, where the wild myrtles glisten,
Come, buckle your sword belt; and Listen! O Listen!"
And when I read that, I imagined that it would be sung to a tune similar to "The Londonderry Air" or to the theme music in How the West Was Won (1962). share
Since there is a mountain Cruachan near Loch Awe, I suppose that "Cruachau" in the lyrics is an error for Cruachan.
