Two questions 1) Just what are these boys doing? What is the plot of the episode? 2) Who was the actor who played the Native American boy?
This show is from season 2 or 3. A tribe in the area has a favorite hunting spot. The Scots, looking for a place to build homes, happens to like the hunting grounds. So, redman/whiteman conflict with Boone in the middle to prevent war.
The boys, who get along, represent the redman/whiteman with Israel being the middleman and they are trying to offer up some sort of offering to God to keep the two groups from killing each other.
There's more to it, but that's all I recall off-hand.
I think it is called "The Peace Tree." This is the one in which Israel very impressively jumps off the cabin roof at the end. It was obvious Darby Hinton actually did this.
