I think this is the 3rd greatest western tv series ever

behind Bonanza and Gunsmoke of course

reply

West is much better than those two.

Never make friends with the devil brother, his pitchfork will get you in the end.

reply

I agree.

reply

I'm fond of "Kung Fu".

reply

First season West fight scenes? :)

reply

Heh, yes, those, too.

reply

Kind of hard to put WWW in the same category as Bonanza and Gunsmoke.

This show was more of a hybrid also combining sci-fi and secret agent/detective genres.

reply

Easy for me.

The main reason I liked it was BECAUSE it wasn't the typical western. Those kind of bored me.

reply

good to hear that

The thing is about this show, and Robert Conrad said it himself in an interview, is that it was actually a science fiction show disguised as a western.

I haven't seen enough of Bonanza or Gunsmoke. I enjoyed the first season of Wild Wild West a lot. In fact, I would say it's one of the best seasons I've seen, certainly one of the most entertaining. But I haven't watched beyond that. I need to rewatch S1 and then go into the rest of the series.
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr is probably my favorite western so far. Great blend of action, humor, western and even some SF.
A few others I am curious about are Rawhide, Maverick, Have Gun Will Travel, High Chaparral, Alias Smith and Jones, Deadwood.

No Kung fu on your list.I don't watch many westerns.Kung fu, Wild wild west and Brisco County jr are favorites.

...plus of course, a spy show (James Bond = James West.)

Indeed, The Wild Wild West was the Number ONE Science Fiction Western Spy series.
