So pathetic and out of character for the uptight schoolmarm. I don't get why they had this scene, it made her look like a potential homewrecker when she was actually a good person. What was the point of it?

If I remember correctly, she did not know he was married. I think Laura tried to tell her he was a jerk, when he tried to hit on Laura, but she resented her. She found out when his wife came to the college, I believe. He was a player.
