When Kelly and Julie spot the kidnapped girl walking down the road, she was pretty far away, so I could not figure out why they didn't drive instead of running to catch up with her?

I just watched this episode on dvd today and said the exact same thing. Also, for someone so drugged up Marti sure could walk really fast.
