The 1977 movie...

Definitely has almost horror elements to it and a more adult feel to it , which works really well !

The hulk looks almost demon like at times and more threatening !

I wish they had kept it this way for the series that would follow

While I like the darker look of the Hulk in the first episode, I can understand trying to make him less creepy looking in later episodes. From what I have watched of the first 2 seasons, he more often became the Hulk durring the day than at night in later episodes.

I just rewatched the 1977 pilot a few months back on bluray and i agree about the horror elements. They were definitely going for a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde vibe. And it wasn't just the pilot. There were horror elements through out the show. The 2 part season 4 episode The First comes to mind. Dick Durock's Hulk terrified me as a kid.

Yeah absolutely agree !
Bill Bixby truly was amazing in the role !

Such a crying shame the series was not allowed a proper finale !

We got finale with the movie The Death of the Incredible Hulk

reply

Not the finale that the fans deserved or that was originally planned

reply

It was never meant as a finale. There was another movie planned but Bixby's illness killed those plans.

But technically it was. There's the 3 movie sequels after the show ends. The Incredible Hulk Returns and The Trial of the Incredible Hulk were good. I like Deah of the Incredible Hulk a bit but will admit the Hulk/David Banner dying at the end was a depressing way to end the show. Then again the show had a season 2 2 episode story where Banner falls in love with a woman and marries a woman. Then she dies at the end.

The movies are awful in my opinion a huge step down in quality.
