Nixon and Officer Jepson

I felt we needed a thread about the background characters. Officer Nixon seems like he is used more in the later seasons, especially when Lt. Marsh comes aboard.

I am nearly finished with season 7 and will be starting season 8 soon. I was looking ahead and see an Officer Jepson (a female cop) showing up in the credits. I don't remember her. Was she someone they added in the last year, or was she always in the background but finally now given a name?

Are there any other background players we see regularly besides these two..?

I believe Officer Jepsen (played by Donna Jepsen) first appeared during season 4 in 'The Mickey Mouse Mob'. She and A.J. seem to know each other pretty well in that episode. I think her character's first name was Susie.

Yes, I noticed that sometimes she is billed as 'Susie' and other times as 'Officer Jepson.' I don't remember her from the Mickey Mouse Mob episode.

She was one of the officers who shows up immediately after Rick and A.J. find the body of Mr. Worse.

My theory is the increased appearances of Jepson in the last season might be related to more of a female presence behind the scenes and on camera. In addition to Joan McMurtrey's on-going role, there is now a woman directing episodes (Judith Vogelsang) plus two female writers during the eighth season (Rebecca Parr & Bonnie Parker).
