Questions about Freefall -spoilers-

1. Did Switek got off the hook with his gambling debts? He effectivelly shot all his debtors. I'd like to think that's what happened.

2. What Crockett meant By moving to 'further shouth'? He was already in southern Florida. Is there more south to go?

3. Elvis. I know he was unseen since season 2 but how did Crockett finally arranged his home and living?

1. If I remember correctly, Castillo had already suspended Switek indefinitely. This was before he pulled his trick and killed those three guys. So, he may be 'off the hook', but his mindset is definitely not right when the series ends.

2. I presume Crockett meant to get out of the States altogether. His line, "and I don't know any of the names of the players" just means he wants out of his current life and desires a simpler lifestyle.

3. I do not recall what became of Elvis. Hopefully, he was taken to a zoo, where he could lounge, eat and make little gators.

1. Switek's story arc resolution was pretty dark. He killed the guys he owed money to and who had got him into trouble with the department. On the other hand, it was hardly a righteous kill and he'd have a lot of explaining to do with Castillo and Internal Affairs. I figure he probably ended up like the guy from "Lend Me An Ear."

2. I think Crockett meant moving to Central or South America, but he could as easily have moved to the Keys, and still been "further south" and in a quieter lifestyle. At least at the time (the Keys are a lot more built-up now).

3. It was odd how they just wrote out Elvis without any explanation. I get that gator wrangling for a TV series can be wearing and expensive long-term, but a line or two would have done it.

That said, Crockett could have made arrangements along the lines of how he left the boat. There are gator farms in Florida that take in pet gators and don't actually turn them into shoes or purses.

This is all speculation as NBC cancelled MV after Freefall aired, but endwd showing four additional Season Five episodes AFTER that cancellation. This meant that the series never experienced any type of resolution.

1. Nothing happened to Switek. The series demonstrated so many questionable shootings and activities prior to Switek killing his loansharks that it is difficult to imagine how they would have prosecuted him on charges that their deaths weren't "righteous" killings. At best, Switek would have been demoted or asked to resign quietly after the investigation ended.

2. Crockett was discussing moving to the Caribbean and/or South America to get away from his problems. SInce the series ended abruptly, the audience never gets to learn if he really did take this course of action.

3. The Elvis storyline never went anywhere and according to stories at the time and those released later, the alligator simply became too dangerous to work with, so they gave it away and wrote off the character. Like many television series, when a minor character is written out, unless they made a significant impact, the common tactic is to simply forget that they ever existed (See Chuck Cunningham from Happy Days and Lana from Three's Company)

Those additional season 5 episodes were the lost episodes that didn't air during season 5 because they were omitted from the broadcast schedule, but they take place before Freefall. "the series never experienced any type of resolution"....no, that is incorrect. Freefall parts 1-2 were the resolution and definitive series finale tying everything up and ended the story. The decision to cancel Miami Vice was made before the production of Freefall, the show's creators knew that the series was ending and decided to wrap things up with the two-part finale.

That is all correct, GetWoke. It was the definitive end of the series. Note how Don Johnson wore his U of Kansas Jayhawks t-shirt in the final scene. He was from Kansas and I believe went to school there.
