Crockett’s original Daytona vs. the replacement Testarossa

I know that Crockett’s original car wasn’t a real Ferrari and was a “California Daytona Spyder” based on a Corvette but I always thought it was more fitting for the show given its beachside location than the more elegant Testarossa. I’m curious what other viewers think. I don’t mean which car was the higher performer in real life since I would just assume that is the Testarossa. Just which car was more aesthetically fitting for the show.

The original car that was used on the show was not a real Ferrari Daytona. It was called a “California Daytona Spyder” because it was really a Corvette with replica body panels to make it look like a Ferrari Daytona. The use of a fake Ferrari pissed off Enzo and so a deal was made that Ferrari would lend the production team the Testarossa in exchange for dumping the fake Daytona.

Interesting article. I used to watch MV back then but I never knew about the Ferrari/Corvette thing.

The original car was way cooler with more style. The Ferrari Testarossa was far better for undercover drug lord busting on the hot streets of Miami. You don't want your mark thinking you're sophisticated with style. You want them thinking you're a dumb ass with too much money who bought the flashiest car in the dealership.

lol I stand by this. I love the later car with it's one rear view popping out. It looks hyper iconic.
