This 12 hour analysis proves The Phantom Meance is good

Or so I think. I couldn't watch past 10 minutes, and I love long-form content I can play for hours. The narrator(s) start autistically describing the minutia of the model variations between expanded-universe counselor ships as apparently seen in the first frame of the movie, as if this has any relevance whatsover. Plus the details they're referencing aren't in the movie, or any of the movies, and have absolutely no bearing on the characters, their motivations, the plot, the filmmaking, the pacing, the writing--nothing.

Zoomers have grown up and are now coping about how they loved something because they were too young to know any better. And it's fine they love it, but that doesn't make the prequels good movies.

Every time I see that video pop up in recommendations, I sincerely hope it's a joke and that after a few minutes it's just 12 hours of polka music or something. But no.

It thinks it's a joke with the arch commentary style. But it's also telling you it's not a joke because, see, they are able to fill a 12 hour video of stuff that people who don't get Star Wars properly wouldn't notice and that's why the sequels are not canon blah blah blah.....

As it happens. I like TPM most of all the sequels. But not once have I seen a decent review that explains how, stylistically or otherwise, the movie works. As you say, nutcases like this judge the value of something based on external things. Based on how it enhances their knowledge and understanding of "the lore" (stuff that happens).

Which is why I like the RLM TPM review. He points out that only what's actually IN the movies is relevant to judging the movie for the vast majority of people.
