Wow, that nicotine she's been sucking down must have messed with her memory.

Natalie's career was already damaged by Star Wars back in 2005, when she finished up with "Revenge of the Sith." She had a lot of trouble finding acting work afterwards because of her association with Lucas and his prequels. (He's actually not popular in mainstream Hollywood, and anyone associated with him is often shunned for that reason). She had rebuild her career from the bottom up, starting with some really shitty films (most notably "Closer,") and working until she got an Oscar for playing a psycho ballerina. She has been outright avoiding [GOOD] sci-fi films for the past 25 years, sticking with drama for the most part. A fine example of her doing this was when she was approached to play the lead for "Jupiter Ascending," and she turned down the role.

It's interesting that last year, she said out of the blue that she had been available to do more Star Wars work, and yet nobody ever called her. It seems to contradict her actions of avoiding the space opera genre for two decades, and surely she is more than aware that Kathleen Kennedy wouldn't dare hire someone that would steal her thunder, much less a woman more popular than she is.

I sincerely doubt 3 old films she was in during her teen and early adult years will make a difference at this point. She's rich enough from the royalties of all her films to be set for life.

there was a story a few months ago the director of Thor 4 Takki whatshisname he said he was talking to portman about a star wars movie hed had greenlit and was working on for Disney and if shed be interested in being in it not realising or completly forgetting shed been in all the prequels and she was like 'ive already been in star wars',. so i bet she was quite happy with that like 'good im so not associated with SW anymore influential ppl dont even know or remember i was in it!'

Taika Watiti is a moron. That, and I think he was playfully trolling her. He knew she had been in the prequels, he was just pretending he didn't know. In fact, the jab was supposed to piss off Star Wars fans who liked the OT and PT, because he was basically saying none of them counted except for the shitty sequel trilogy.

Thankfully, chances are, based on Lucasfilm's recent history, they're not gonna crank out any Star Wars films or tv shows any time soon as long as KK is in charge. Bob Iger has the final say in anything that's released, and frankly, even he is sick and tired of KK's fanfiction shit.
