Why the stupid time jump which bypasses huge events?

Ser criston not apparently even suffering a reprimand?

Ser Otto not losing his tongue, but even gaining his Hand position back again (yes I know he was involved in his successor/predecessor's murder)

Daemon wistfully idling from room to room for several episodes doing NOTHING?

There are some hints they will talk about some of the stuff that happened during the time jumps, but most of this show is gonna take place when the kids of Rhanerya and Alicent are grown.

reply

The producers are doing too much too soon.

reply

yep. bad judgement. pacing is a key part of storytelling. #fail

What do they plan to spend some 6 seasons on? They definitely will have more then one season. But it already feels like it should end soon. The have 20 years in 8 episodes. Its crazy.

reply

The book spans a long time. The main conflict is the children. Season 1 is basically just a prologue to the real story.

reply

it's already been renewed for a 2nd season

reply

House of the Dragon is probably not just the story of the "The Dance of Dragons" but also maybe what happens after with the Blackfyre Rebellion and other Targaryens.

With the way the time jumps are happening this show is 3 ~ 4 seasons max unless they take a major shift from the books.

reply

They should've used narration like at the beginning.

reply

Probably because there are no huge events.

But to be fair nothing so far feels like huge events. Just a set-up for the future.

Just watched all the episodes this week and this was my main criticism

If you didn't read the episode description you wouldn't know it was later in the first episodes as the characters didn't seem to age.

Often it seemed like episodes ended with big reveals and then it was years later. I know some bits got dragged out in game of thrones like series 5 but generally it worked best if things where built up
