Red John was one of the worst written villains ever

Heller is such an idiot and hack he clearly had no long term plan for how to execute RJs death. The eventual unravelling was one of the biggest letdowns in the history of tv shows. The sheriff as RJ just does not work since they played him as a hick. He did not emanate evil or menace or brilliance as the character was written. Heller just sucks.

I find your lack of foreskin disturbing

It's not really wrong though. But I can see why people would want to be able to see and figure out the menacing, twisted, suspect character on their own. Even though that would really lower the chances of a red john to exists if he wasn't able to blend.

And Yes, Red John was one of the worst written villains ever.

The completely convulated storyline with Blake Association/law enforcement conspiracy fiasco reveal was extremely disappointing, as well as the fact that none of the RJ questions got answered. And the whole chase scene in the Red John episode was so dumb.

However, I disagree with some people's views that there was no way a country sheriff could be smart enough to be Red John. They showed McAllister to be extremely smart in "Wedding in Red." I remember the first time I watched that episode back when it first aired and thinking that he could definitely be RJ.

And they obviously changed his character from the one where he first appears in season 1, since none of them had any plans for him to be RJ back in season 1.

Was it right for them to completely change a character's personality to suit their needs? No, it definitely was not. And it's one of the many reasons why I am never, ever, ever watching anything that Bruno Heller does ever again. Ever.

BC, after all these years, I still have no idea what, in this universe, you are saying. I cannot imagine you talk like this in your normal, daily life. Your rantings appear to be drivel of a schizophrenic.

A lot of hyperbole. Sure the ending for Red John was disappointing. Despite this, for many years he was a worthy opponent to Jane. Cruel, calculating and clever he was a true villain.

reply

The OP means that the Sheriff we saw in the second episode, playing rock paper scissors with Jane, was too lame to be Red John.
It was decided in the last rj season that it would be him.
It showed and it was lame.

reply

Oh, I see what you mean.
Yes it was a lame finish after such a great start.

Could not agree more. It pissed me off to no end how they resolved the situation by making so that the way Red John was able to outsmart Jane all those years was because he had a whole legion of law officers working for him. What was exciting about the story was that it was one mastermind versus another. That ending totally ruined it. I can see Red John having some followers, but half the law enforcement in California give me a break. I would think at some point he would have tried to buy the wrong person and then he'd be caught.

Personally I thought Bradley Whitford as Red John would've been fine - Jane could've spent the following seasons chasing down his followers

But once they revealed Whitford as a fake, the show set its own bar too high - hence the whole law enforcement conspiracy
