S02E06 A Stitch in Crime...

So in the end, when Dr. Spock thought he'd gotten away, Columbo bursts back into the room for the "got'cha" moment! The suture was in Columbo's scrubs. Dr. Spock bumped into Columbo in the surgery room to drop the sutures in Columbo's scrubs. The ending only shows Spock's disappointment that Columbo figured it out. But lets pretend the episode gets another hour. I don't think Columbo wins. It's a case of he said, she said. A man this evil and this smart will just say, "Columbo was hell bent on pinning me for this murder. He planted the sutures himself!" What do you guys think? I think in reality, Spock would have gotten the best lawyers money can buy and absolutely create reasonable doubt, that perhaps Columbo planted the sutures, since there were no witnesses the moment Columbo revealed the sutures. Remember, when they were in the operating room with all the cops and detectives, nobody could find the sutures.

Yah, I think you described a lot of episodes there. I'm a big Columbo fan, but...any resemblance to real world policework is strictly coincidental :)
