shareYou do realize Godzilla is a Japanese production? Raymond Burr did not star in the first one. He was inserted when Godzilla was released in America to give American audiences a familiar face to identify with.
Nothing stupid about the series either. The do vary widely in quality. Kaiju monsters are a popular Japanese tradition which the rest of the world are privileged to enjoy.

I never liked Godzilla, even as a kid, and I have zero nostalgia for it.
Some traditions are not worthy.
And I love Japanese movies, mostly the samurai movies, but even the silly ones like "Attack Of The Mushroom People".

Now, who thinks everyone should agree with them? If you look at my posts, you will see I have made the statement many times that each person's taste is their own. Their taste is not subject to right or wrong. I will debate with someone I disagree with, but they don't have to change their minds. Nor do I think they are stupid, or sheep, or shills if they disagree with me.

That is not that I mean either ... in broadest abstract sense I mean when one gets older or more purposeful, or about to die ;-) ... basically in reflection, few would say that many of the movies we watch ... or subject ourselves to out of boredom or limited options added much if anything to our lives. To different degrees, I'm just saying how I would feel if I watched this based on other Godzilla movies I have seen.
Possibly I could judge that if there is not at least an ounce of this in someone, they are deficient in some way - and often many have to hide that deficiency by running away.
To the OP:
A lot of people, like myself, grew up watching a lot of the old-school Godzilla movies, including the first one. The first one is actually the American version of the original Japanese film that was recut and had Raymond Burr inserted into it. The OG Japanese version is actually better, and is on a DVD set with the American version. And no, all the Godzilla films are not "crap", there's good ones and bad ones, just like in any other genre. That just goes to show you obviously never watched hardly any of them---so you're not even qualified to have an opinion on any of them.
We get it, you don't like Godzilla films, fine. But you're already said it more than once, so nobody gives a damn whether you do or not. That's just you and your unasked-for opinion that no one gives a damn about. Quit being a troll, move the hell on, and stop trying to shove your opinion down everybody's throat. And this new Godzilla movie is very good---which is why it's been a box office hit.
There are a few logical fallacies there. First of all, an anti-Godzilla-movie opinion is no less asked for than a pro-Godzilla-movie opinion. Who, exactly, asked for your opinion? Was your opinion asked for any more than the OP's opinion? No. Second of all, and this is a mistake so many people on Movie Chat make, disagreeing with you about the quality of a movie does not make someone a "troll". And third, there have been plenty of shit movies that have been box office hits, and plenty of good movies that have not. Money pouring in is not necessarily any indication of quality.
