Maine bars Trump from ballot as US Supreme Court weighs state authority to block former president

Maine’s Democratic secretary of state on Thursday removed former President Donald Trump from the state’s presidential primary ballot under the Constitution’s insurrection clause, becoming the first election official to take action unilaterally as the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to decide whether Trump remains eligible to continue his campaign.

The decision by Secretary of State Shenna Bellows follows a December ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court that booted Trump from the ballot there under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. That decision has been stayed until the U.S. Supreme Court decides whether Trump is barred by the Civil War-era provision, which prohibits those who “engaged in insurrection” from holding office.

Hahaha! Trump is through. Do you hear that? It's Trump supporters' heads exploding!

All I hear is keyboards typing in preparation for a SCOTUS decision.

They are simply playing a numbers game with states wanting this vs states that are correctly calling this bullshit.

There will be a moment soon when you realize that you have been conned by a clown. Most Americans see Trump for the grifter he is and only the very stupid support him.

Trump is back on the Colorado ballot.

More ketchup splattered on the walls at Mar-a-Lago, no doubt.

Even the states that ruled against keeping if the ballot agreed that he committed insurrection.

Prepare for MAGA violence before they blame it on ANTIFA until you check their history on socials.

He'll still be on the Colorado ballot until SC intervenes. Kinda gets confusing since you got SC in a state and the SCOTUS which is all of the US. Even if you haven't been 'charged' with insurrection, 'engaging' in one is what it implies from the looks of it.

I like how the right always applies the old Democrats as if they're still the same Democrats today when they're the one that wants to remove said confederate statues and the likes yet the GOP wants them to remain and also have their supporters fly Confederate flags. Gee, I wonder where they really went eh? It's like they can't even tell from that end with all the imagery shown. And don't the Rubes control most of the the south anyway? Well there you go.
