Why do they make all cars like a bubble now?

Seriously why? They used to make like, square cars more or less.
It seems like they have become so round that given their trajectory, in ten years time they will evolve into a perfectly spherical shape.
Even the new chevy Camaros and dodge challengers have this look, although not as much as most cars but still...
They look bloated to me.
Is it for aerodynamical reasons?
