a little intro from me. mc.org is great

hi

i registered i think about a week after MovieChat.org was made. i came by today to make a quick post about a show that's available online for just a few more hours

in that much activity i can say that this place already feels way nicer than the IMDb boards ever did. it's so comfortable. i think it's to do with the focus of the site, leading to the end result. i have felt like actually making posts, whereas previously i would think of things to write but would be put off from visiting to post

i'll take this opportunity to add that.. i had the exact same idea to preserve and carry forward the original boards which were such a wonderful and valuable resource. it seemed a no-brainer to simply dump the content and continue the format. easy. (including having the old content linked off-site if necessary, in case of legality)

i am one of those who likes to keep going the feeling after a film or show (or book) ends and almost always would hit up the IMDb, as many do

so, many thanks for doing a great job with this site. i look forward to the old content being integrated once it's available. (oh, i see there is old stuff here already)

i found out about this while searching for the link to the archiveteam page to check the progress. the hackernews page for this site came up in the results. i was slightly miffed at not being alone/first in implementing the plan, but now instead i'm very pleased at the feel of your site. (i suppose there is value in running a redundant mirror of *this* site ;) so there are still things like that to pursue. that's topic for another thread)

of course there is the valuable content systematically deleted at the original boards to keep in mind

finally, maybe we could add book (and more) discussions. i have not yet found a place with IMDb-like discussions for other content than film/tv. please do tell me of such if you know. i'll ask this question again in a standalone post too

(btw i been reading IMDb & its boards since some time in '97 i reckon)
