A big name actor/star in a really really awful movie

Only two rules:

(a). They need to have already made it big BEFORE starring in said film.

(b). They need to have played a significant role in the film. Supporting roles still count but not cameos.

Let me start us off:

1. Adam Sandler AND Al Pacino in Jack & Jill (2011)

2. John Travolta in Battlefield Earth (2000)

3. Ben Affleck AND Jennifer Lopez in Gigli (2003)

4. Robin Williams AND John Travolta in Old Dogs (2009)

5. Robert Downey Jr in Doolitle (2020)

reply

Ha, my first thought was Battlefield Earth with Travolta.

Brando in The Island Of Doctor Moreau.

reply

A friend "saved me" from seeing Doctor Moreau back in the day.

It was not very good and typical late career Marlon he showed up on set not knowing much about the script or his lines and he was grossly obese.

I swear that man spent the last decade of his work shaming his former brilliance.
How does a Marlon Brando crash and burn so spectacularly?

Gary Oldman in "Tiptoes" (2003)

Eddie Murphy in "The Adventures of Pluto Nash " (2002)

Dustin Hoffman in "Ishtar" (1987)

Ben Kingsley in "The Love Guru" (2008)

Jon Voight in "Baby Geniuses" (1999) and "Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004)

reply

Ben Kingsley was in The Love Guru? That's news to me.

The only things I remember from that movie is that it kinda killed Mike Myers career, Justin Timberlake was doing a cartoonish accent & two elephants fucked at the climax. 😉

Also, I've kinda purged Pluto Nash from my memory. So thanks for reminding me.

Exorcist II, The Heretic, (1977) Richard Burton
Exorcist III, (1990), George C. Scott

Sean Penn in Shanghai Surprise (1986)

reply

Michael Caine in On Deadly Ground(1994)

reply

Caine has openly admitted he'd take a role for a few bucks and a nice vacation, it's why he did Jaws 4: The Revenge.
I admire his honesty quite frankly.

reply

I wonder if it's the same with Ben Kingsley & Sam Jackson. Cause they've been in a LOT of stuff. Not together, just in general

reply

$$$

reply

I remember reading Jackson's trivia section & it said that he starred in a lot of film cause he loves the art.

I was waiting for the next line to be "And also the money". haha

reply

John Wayne, Susan Hayward - The Conqueror (1956)

reply

Never seen it. But I have heard a lot about it. It was even covered by this podcast I listen to called ''It was a Shit Show''. They look at film productions that were were a shit show to make/star in.

reply

Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper: Super Mario Bros (1993). You could even argue John Leguizamo, but he wasn't as big a star as Hoskins and Hopper.

Halle Berry and Sharon Stone: Catwoman (2004)

reply

I'm glad Catwoman is a movie that exists. Cause I once tricked my friend into watching it with his parents. Good times. haha

reply

Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu in Ballistic Ecks vs. Sever (2002)

reply

That movie genuinely looked badass to me. In an era where I LOVED anything action related, it bored the heck outta me. I genuinely couldn't even finish it.

And to this day, I never have.

reply

Me and my friend regretted seeing it in the theaters but around that time there was pretty much dramas and PG-13 comedies and it was the only action movie that was showing
