Huge hit and massive bomb in same year

Between the hugely popular Everything Everywhere All at Once and the overall failure of The Witcher: Blood Origin, Yeoh hit both ends of the spectrum this year.

reply

Maybe, but the “huge hit” is all that really matters isn’t it? Personally I haven’t even of heard of The Witcher movie and didn’t know Michelle starred in it, and I suspect she couldn’t care less about it bombing while she’s busy picking out her Oscars dress.

reply

It’s a series and yes she probably does care. She’ll make more money off a continuing successful big budget series than she will low budget Oscar flicks. Oscar cred fades quickly. Residuals don’t.

reply

Fair enough.

I suspect she’s pretty pleased to be recognised with an Oscar nom, regardless.

reply

Oh absolutely. Very impressive. I’m a big fan.

reply

Me too 😊

She is married to Jean Todt, director of the FIA, the governing body of (among other things) Formula 1, and former team manager for Scudderia Ferrari. She and her hubby BASK in wealth.

Residuals get spent. An Academy Award is eternal.

hit both ends of the spectrum with that one movie I reckon

Critics love it ,
user reviews on amazon say "sensory overload of/with kung fu with incomprehensible storyline "

it put me off watching it
