No its not. Die Hard had fun with christmas concept throughout the movie. In Batman Returns christmas was just a backdrop.

If it's a Christmas movie, it's sure bleak and depressing.

It might depend on the requirements for a Christmas Movie in your eyes. If all that is needed is for the film to be set at Christmas, then yes. There's enough Christmas stuff around to warrant that. If you need themes to match up to traditional holiday warm-fuzzies, then maybe not. Although...it's kind of about "family" and loved ones...

It's more of a Christmas movie than it is a Batman movie....

absolutely. Saying it was in 1992 probably seemed kinda strange. But now post 9/11, during pandemic--when people are MUCH more jaded it makes perfect sense. We're far more aware of what is going on around us than the average person was in 1992 (no internet!!).
