I just hit Season 8 on Netflix, expecting Steve Carell to come back, but then I come to IMDB and see that's not happening.
So far, it just doesn't feel right without him, and I'm debating whether to keep on watching.
What are your opinions on these last Two seasons with Michael? Is it worth watching?
Not really. I mean, it's easy to binge on Netflix so maybe just keep going, but S8 is really poor, and S9 is even worse.
"Garden Party," "Gettsyburg," "Trivia," and the ~3 Tallahassee episodes are OK in S8.
Other than that I'd just skip ahead to the last 3-4 of S9 to see how everything wraps up.

If you are binge watching I'd recommend you to watch every episode. Some episodes are not that good, some will make you miss Micheal. But in the end, it's worth it.
I had the same doubt when Steve left. Just finished watching the series. No regrets.

I'm through most of Season 8, and it's not the worst decline of a Series I've ever watched ('LOST' or 'HEROES' anyone?), but it's definitely not the same without Steve Carell and James Spader just makes me grind my teeth.
Good! I actually know quite a few people who preferred the show after Carrell left. Personally I disagree but it DOES help a few other characters develop and it's worth it to see everyone's paths in the finale. There are definitely some great moments still ahead!

Steve Carell was definitely the glue because without him this series is all over the place. The James Spader episodes are odd because Spader has developed a very strange sort of abbreviated way of speaking with his head, which by the way has gotten quite large, tilted back. The episodes with DeAngelo Vickers were so unmemorable that I just don't remember them.
I'm with you on Lost. That series became so convoluted that I didn't know when or where it was so I just stopped watching it. And Heroes is almost in the same boat, bouncing back and forth between the present and the future so many times in the same episode I had to take a Dramamine. How many remember Jim Carrey's "audition" for Michael's spot in S7:E24?
However I don't see how anyone could prefer the show without Carell. He is a central character and is largely responsible for the show's success. It may be simply because many just don't like him. But cancer on the eyes? Yikes!
If Robert California was out of S8 it would be pretty good; and I actually really enjoyed S9, which seems to be unpopular.
