Welcome to the re-vamped Sam and Dean Squad!
Saving People, Hunting Things, the Family Business.

New board, new season, new thread. Thank you, Bella, for the idea.

If you ever thought to yourself:
I always bet on the big, beautiful, lumbering piles of flannels.
You're either Crowley or this is the thread for you.

This is the appreciation thread for all the things that we love about the Winchester brothers and the pair of Texan BFFs who portray them, aka J2.

Rules:

- you must love both Sam and Dean. You don't have to love them equally, but if you don't love them both, flaws and all, this isn't the squad for you.

- you must value the bond between the brothers as an important element of the show and of their characters.

- and finally, please be polite and respectful of the views of others, this is supposed to be fun!

I have a hunch he won't be which is why I am really, really angry so many emotions right now about the demise of Crowley and Rowena. Crowley's death made me scream out loud which doesn't happen to me that often, Mark had a real impact on me as an actor. 'I was born to direct' springs to mind. He's had so many great lines to deliver and is exceptional every single time. I think the show will really miss him, and dare I say it even damage the show. He's that powerful as a leading figure and that good. I knew I would be upset over his death if it ever happened but not quite in the way I feel today. I did read he wants to spend time with his family and new baby which I fully understand. I hope in the future Mark changes his mind and comes back.

I will miss you so very much Mark, you've left a huge hole in my heart.

I agree with every word, Belle. Lol @ this turning into the Crowley subthread but it's like I don't even want to think about him because I'm so, so sad he's gone.

I so agree with you. I am still numb thinking we won't see him come October. I doubt Mark now will even be at Comic Con if he's not coming back? I can't believe he was killed once in E22 came out of the grave just like Dean S4 which was brilliantly orchestrated in performing his own come back using a rat as cover. Then ends up in the AU taking his own life on the end of an angel blade in E23. Like this is the biggest EVER WTF moment! I rarely swear, but hay emotions are a wreck!

So I don't know if this was already covered in the Jibcon thread but right after the YANA question that got Jensen so emotional another fan asked a question about how to handle hate...Jensen was clearly struggling so Jared organized this....

Which hug, Sam and Dean's, or Sam, Dean and Mary's, because I didn't buy the second either but again, I'm happy to focus on Sam and Dean's first and second hug :)

The group Mary hug, a number were really not buying it. And genuinely dislike Mary. I like Mary but am annoyed in the way they have portrayed her this season.

Yeah, I'm among those who have no use for Mary and I did not buy that hug one bit. The episode lost major points for me because of it.

Wow - I had seen a clip of them all hugging Jensen but not how it came about - what a great great idea - absolutely the best way to handle hate, have lots of cuddles.

Best Dean moments

“I hate you”. Dean’s journey inside Mary’s mind. From start to finish, a flawless performance by Mr. Ackles.

“Hey Lunatic”. Dean rising like the phoenix after the explosion. The line was perfect, especially as a contrast to Sam’s desperation when he stumbled into the war room. Dean’s way of lightening the mood and saying: of course I’m alive, Sasquatch.

I think Jensen was put through every possible range of emotion in that episode. But the winner is Dean and Mary. It was perfect and Samantha did a fabulous job in her performance as well. I can't remember if I took a single breath during that whole scene.

I really Jensen's performance. He's such a talented and nuanced actor. He makes me feel Dean's pain so deeply that I get angry on Dean's behalf lol.

Best Sam moments

“You might think it in your best interest to kill me. To end all of this here.” Sam facing Hess was another great moment. I loved the actress’ performance. Hess was playing her last card and giving it everything she had. Sam was not impressed and it showed on his face. “Pass”. Now that‘s the Sammy I know!

“Dean!” Sam stumbling in the war room looking for Dean after the explosion. Ah yes, the desperation in his voice as he looks for his brother. And the single layer t-shirt. And him looking like he’s randomly doing push ups while gasping for air. Yep. This is one of those scenes that really came together for me. * sips fresh lemonade through a straw *

Sam’s face after hugging Dean. And now for Padalecki’s performance. So much emotion and feeling, and almost all of it, in the eyes. When the narrative lets J2 be great, they always deliver.

Jared really has matured lately particularly with his emotions, on a whole different level. It must be really hard to find those emotions when acting. I applaud him for explaining to us how he really cares about his mom! You can really, really see his pain.

And yes I agree. The writers need to trust the stars of the show. They know their characters. All they need is a script to showcase their talents and they can make a fair episode truly great.

Jensen always says that your body can't tell the difference between the real emotion and acting so it takes a lot out of them. The death scenes are especially brutal. Jared cried so much for "Miracles..." Based on what Jensen described, the scene that made the final cut was one where he didn't cry all that much versus some that stayed on the cutting room floor. Jensen said his sleeve was soaked in tears.
