Supernatural Season 13 Photos: Dean and Sam Play Parents to Lucifer's Son

Dean and Sam Winchester, congrats! You’re now in charge of a (very large) newborn!

In these photos from Supernatural‘s Season 13 premiere, the brothers find themselves tending to Lucifer’s offspring, Jack (played by Arrow‘s Alexander Calvert), who has come out of the womb “physically fully-formed,” but “with no agenda,” executive producer Andrew Dabb told TVLine during our Fall

“He’s, in a lot of ways, a blank slate,” the EP continued. “So he’s going to take guidance from the people around him, and the people around him are Sam and Dean. Yes, he’s the son of the devil, but he’s also the son of Kelly Kline. Is he good? Is he evil?

As he looks at Sam and Dean, our guys are complicated characters. I don’t think you can say that everything they do is 100-percent lawful good. Our guys make sacrifices [and] compromises.

How will he learn from those lessons? How do Sam and Dean want to teach him during those lessons? Do they want to help him around certain mistakes that they had made?

All these are questions we’re dealing with as…Sam and Dean are, to a large degree, acting as parents in this season, which is a new thing for them and for everyone involved.”

Supernatural Season 13 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 8/7c on The CW.

Thanks Virile (or is it Vee) for the pictures.

Love the writing on Jack's shirt, "Mess with the bull you get the horns". A little play on words.

reply

Good catch! I didn't notice Jack's shirt.
Vee's fine :)

reply

I almost missed it. The word horns caught my eye and had to blow up the picture to see the rest. Their way of sneaking in sayings like that are fun to catch.

reply

I like the look of Jack, I gathered the angels would want to take him back to heaven. How will Sam and Dean beat them, I wonder? Nice photos Vee.

Thanks, Bella :)

It's nice to see someone who's not jaded after all this time :)

Synopsis

Season 13 begins exactly where we left off, with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) left to pick up the pieces after the loss of their mother, the demise of Crowley (Mark Sheppard) and the heartbreaking death of Castiel (Misha Collins). The birth of Jack (Alexander Calvert) leaves the Winchester brothers with differing opinions on how to deal with a Nephilim. After being dragged into the breach, Mary (Samantha Smith) must learn to survive Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) and an apocalyptic world.

Andrew Dabb written the episode directed by Phil Sgriccia. Supernatural Season 13 Episode 1 October 12 at 8|7c on The CW.

It will be interesting in future weeks how they close the door on this Apocalyptic world that they've created as I think it will be a cool storyline to carry out. Who will survive and of course be brought back again? Looking forward to this and seeing what they do with it.

... What do you mean?

reply

Who me? I wrote a negative post and everyone else was being positive so I deleted my negativity.

reply

I understand. I'm trying to psych myself up and find ways to re-trigger my interest in the show. I have nothing positive to say either so I just try and provide news of the promotional kind lol. It's Dabnatural for you and let me be real and uncensored here for a sec. I don't think it's ever getting better as long as he's in charge.

reply

Unfortunately you are right. Dabb is writing his dream sitcom and this is how the show is going to end.

reply

I've been radio silent on the boards, mostly because real life has gotten in the way, but also because I just don't see anything coming down the pike that's peaking my interest and is worth discussing WRT where my interest lies. I agree it's "Dabbnatural" from here to the end, and that's got increasingly less to do with the Winchester brothers.

I now doubt Kripke would even come in to write a series finale, because the guy is getting really busy lately, and I have no interest in how "Dabbnatural" ends.

I just watched the vimeo, and that's certainly doing nothing to get me excited, especially since for the millionth time all Dean apparently gets to do is wallow for an episode or two, and that's the end of that. Any potentially interesting storyline has nothing at all to do with Dean and Sam, therefore I don't care.

The video and everything else I've seen and read continues to confirm that Dabb & Co. are heavily focused on the spin-off. It's all they really care about because that's what they think is going to keep them employed past whenever the mothership ends.

This is so sad to read PA xx

reply

Dabb & Co. are definitely pushing it very very hard. My guess is that they've already been given a 13-episode pick-up, and that's why they're spending so much time of the original series selling the spin-off.

reply

I can only give this comment a thumbs up. Nothing to add, you said it all.
What a sad state of affairs...
