Why do a prequel and not a sequel?

Either way I think it's too early for the "next generation" of Supernatural, but it makes more "sense" vs. the prequel.

Neither makes sense. A prequel for a lot of reasons and sequel to do what??
They've beaten everything ... and I mean literally everything, including god. So what's left to do???

And hell is led by a friend.

Eventhough, yes technically they have beaten everything that's been thrown at them. There are still MORE stories to tell, and more monsters to kill. Just because God has gone more or less, horizons look positively brighter at the moment. Considering what weekend we just had. I think finding out about early life is a cool idea, but like Sammi said earlier I wonder if there is enough scope there to bring it all out in the open and keep it fresh and going for six or more seasons. I think Jensen and Co are taking a big risk in starting from the beginning. I think telling a story after death as a seqeuel would have been better as they are together now as a family and reunited. They all hunt, and are already a little community in themselves. But then since they are dead, how can they fight something alive on earth, maybe something to ponder...

Maybe we need to know more about what he has planned. I do sort of trust Jensen's instincts since I do know Supernatural is special to both he and Jared. I just don't think we have the whole story..

Also, I'll add that my experience with film and especially tv shows is that often the synopsis of shows that don't interest me have often turned out to be my favorite shows....(and vice versa on those I thought I'd love.)..examples are shows like 6 Feet Under, Breaking Bad, Justified, The Americans, BTVS...and many more that turned out to be my favorite shows but sounded uninteresting..
For me it might boil down to the writing, the acting and the chemistry between the actors....along with Director and show runner. These ingredients can make a big difference.
I'll wait and see.

In short: Ikr

But if it’s interesting and the execution is solid, then good :)

A spin-off works. A series focused on Bobby and his black friend , for example

Nothing. I'm sorry guys I love the show as much as the rest of you but 15 years is enough, and 15 tooo long to boot.

The last two seasons were so horrible I can't get excited for anything supernatural related, prequel or sequel I just don't care anymore. You've milked it enough. It's over. move on
