Anybody notice Stuart was kind of a player when he was first introduced (he went out with Penny). Then they quickly made him a loser, as though that first episode with him never happened.

shareProbably tried the character out. The original plan didn't work so they revised him. Same thing they did with Bernadette.
Another good example: Johnathan Harris completely changed his character in Lost in Space in the 1960's and it worked.
Lol. Dr Smith went from evil mole trying to kill the Robinson's, including his boy Will, to becoming a lovable gay camp icon.
