Is it really as great as most people say it is?

Cheers.

reply

Nope.

It's a decent movie due to the good production values across the board and great acting but it's ultimately an overlong movie that for me has no rewatch value at all. It's long and feels even longer than it is! For a 3 hour movie that's a death sentence. It's worth a one time watch due to it being well made and one of the major movies of 2023. It was a box office hit and will win some major awards.

Barbie was way better.

The movie is honestly really bad. I couldn't understand half the dialogue, and it was too long. So I gave up trying, due to pure mental exhaustion, and couldn't wait for this crap to end.

Before watching this movie, I thought Oppenheimer was one of the most fascinating historic scientific characters. This movie changed my mind and I lost interest in the man. Maybe a good book on him will reignite things.

I do hope they make a movie based on Heisenberg, but without Nolan as director.

First half 7/10, decent pacing.

Explosion weak, not worth the story payoff ‘destroyer of worlds’.

Second half 3/10, pacing too accelerated and music loud and unfitting for political theater.
I enjoyed Rebel Moon and Leave the World Behind more than this.

I finally got around to watch it.

No, it's a terrible movie.

It's a good looking film for sure though.

reply

It is not. It's overly long and pretentious, and even worse than that so very portentous. I would even argue that if anyone other than Nolan had done it, making it in under two hours with zero bombast/"trailer" FX shots would be even more of a challenge. He is so egotistical even his movies cannot escape his smug self satisfaction anymore.
