Interesting Start , then falls apart

Dani was very annoying . How Christian put up with her , I don’t know. Movie had good first half , then became non-sensical. It seems as though the writer made it up as he went, “ ohhh ,what can I do next to intrigue the viewers”.
And it was wayyyy too long.

Way too long and boring remake of The Wicker Man

reply

Yes , way too long. I hope you mean the original “ Wicker Man” . That was amazing .

I definitely do, Sir Christopher Lee was outstanding..though I'd would rather watch the Rifftrax version of the Nic Cage Wicker Man than Midsommar

Dani was ok. I mean the girl had recently lost her family in a gruesome murder.

The poor man’s Chris Pratt was more annoying.

👏

He had pretty blue eyes and quite a nice ass!

Hereditary had the same problem. Great start. Awful 2nd half.

My biggest gripes the length and pacing. Seriously, there was absolutely NO NEED for this to be 150 minutes long!
Almost every scene after the first act dragged needlessly and often led to nowhere, to the point where I was almost screaming "Come on! Make your point and move on!"

45 minutes could've been shaved off, surely.

I disagree, I thought the pacing and overall length were well executed.
What I love most about Midsommar is that it is filmed in a way in which we the audience are observing and therefor participating in something which is beyond taboo, something that if we were caught observing would most likely result in a horrific death.
I personally enjoyed every lingering minute of this film and wish it were longer.

I’ve seen it a few times, I thought it was a fine, atmospheric horror thriller. Obviously it reminded me of the original Wicker Man from 1973 which was spooky and the hilarious Nic Cage remake which was nothing short of brilliant nonsense was great fun too.

Nick Cage was simply unhinged in that remake, there is hardly anything more entertaining than unhinge Nick Cage!
