Why is Death/Grim Reaper German?

It's almost like German is a synonym for Evil in Hollywood. Only reason I can think of is WW2. Or is there another reason why Germans are often being portrayed as Evil/"Bad Guys"?

"Child of my enemy, why have you come? I offer no forgiveness for father's sins cast to his son."

I sort of see what you're saying but I don't think that that kind of comparison is used anymore, or at least with what I've seen lately.

Also, I don't think "Death" is a symbol of evil, I think this is a misconception. I'm not religious in any way, shape or form nor do I have any in-depth knowledge of religion but I believe Death visits you whether you are good or bad. That's just his job, he transports you from the land of the living to the land of the dead.

Watch The Seventh Seal. Since playing games in this movie is based on Death in that film, I imagine the accent is a similar homage. Since it's a Swedish film.

It's not German. Pretty sure it's supposed to be Italian, but it sounds kind of ambiguous to me. One thing it does NOT sound to me is German, at least not like any of the Germans I've known.

The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.

It would make more sense if he is SWEDISH as his role parodies The Seventh Seal which is a Swedish film. I thought he was being Swedish as his accent isn't quite the typical German accent. One of the things DEATH in this film does which is a clear mirroring of the Seventh Seal is when he agrees to the challenge he lifts one arm/robe which is what he also does in the Seventh Seal when he first appears to the knight.

Funny, his accent is quite obviously much closer to Russian, and I thought he did it that way because the Commies killed three times as many people as Germany did. And that was AFTER wwii; Germany had to fight all those who had declared war on her.

You could ask these types of questions about every movie ever made. The other question is why did they replace the actresses who played the princesses? I liked the original two better. But such is life.
