Why couldn't Sean Connery's character sing that song in tune?

Scott McKenzie's "San Francisco", when he was taking that shower, or at least try to?

He was basically verbally and completely out of tune SPEAKING the whole song. Couldn't his character at least try and sing it?

reply

I think the point was to make "noise" so the agents in the next room were distracted. The one guy sitting there was like, "Fuck my life, fuck this detail."... his ruse worked.

reply

Oh, so it was INTENTIONAL on his behalf, I didn't quite realize it.

IDIOT

reply

Oh come on mate, no need to get it personal, we all get it wrong sometimes, heck, for all I know and care, maybe he just didn't want to sing it in tune, maybe after spending over 30 years in prison didn't motivate him to sing it properly etc.

reply

"IDIOT"

JUDGE.

But don't worry, I am alright with it as it is, but then, did anyone during that scene actually WANT Sean Connery to sing, maybe to see if he can carry the tune, no matter what the circumstances are?

reply

No problem
