Kept thinking about poor people in Singapore
Do they have slums?
Nothing on slums but from Wikipedia:
In October 2018, Oxfam ranked Singapore 149 out of 157 in its Commitment to Reducing Inequality Index 2018, placing it among the bottom ten of the countries in the index, which ranks countries based on efforts to reduce economic inequality.[101] In its report, Oxfam accused Singapore of practices which encouraged "harmful tax practices", not having a universal minimum wage (apart from janitors and security guards), and poor performance on labour rights.[102]
It is one of the richest countries in the world.
shareEvery country has low income areas.
shareI don't think they have slums but like Hong Kong they have an affordable housing shortage and the cost of living is high for working class people.
So instead of a one bedroom apartment you get a single room.
A lot of it is 6 of one half a dozen of another. They have a world class public transportation system but average people cannot afford the $10,000+ annual fees to own a car.
